Parrying a blow is a very valuable fighting technique, equally effective both in barehanded fighting and in sword fighting. When a Muay Sakon fighter deflects the opponent’s punch he retaliates immediately, aiming at one of the exposed vital points.

A deflection is effective no matter how big is the opponent. Even if the path of the strike is diverted just a few centimetres all the attack’s power becomes instantly useless and the defender is not harmed at all.

At the same time as the opponent’s straight punch is parried, the Muay Sakon stylist counterattacks with an explosive up-stream blow, aimed at the chin. The opponent’s forward energy added to the defender’s produces a conflagration possibly leading to a sudden knock-out.
