What

Muay Chaiya is a very effective short range fighting system. In order to express power at a short distance from the opponent, fighters are trained to use their hips with explosive rotations around the body axis. These rotations effectively transfer energy from the ground to the designated body weapon.

Why

When the Muay Chaiya boxer is close to the opponent and needs to attack or defend he doesn’t resort to muscular force but rather employs the burst of energy generated by an explosive turn of his hips.

How

In order to generate power from the hips, the Muay Chaiya fighter starts by twisting his feet left and right; this twist creates a wave of energy that reaches the core of the boxer’s body. Then, thanks to a coordinated turning of the hips the energy is directed to the upper or lower limbs to attack or defend with explosive power.
