Attacking the eyes of the enemy is a universal strategy of all hand to hand combat systems. In Muay this strategy is called “extinguish the lamp”. Lert Rit fighters know it well and apply it in grappling situations whenever possible.

Why

Eye gouging is an extremely effective attack. Muay Lert Rit combat principles usually limit its application to grappling situations even if a thumb strike at middle range is nevertheless a dangerous technique.

How

Lert Rit fighters apply eye gouging offensively, slapping the enemy’s ear or ears, following with a thumb stab. Otherwise, when the opponent tries to get hold of your body or arms you can aim one or both of your thumbs to his eyes, stab and dig out. This is a very dangerous technique that must be used only as an extreme measure.
