Upside down punch: the fist is twisted with the palm facing the sky. This is a traditional Muay Sakon system to throw a straight punch along a diagonal upwards path. Very accurate and deceptive.

Why

A punch that follows a diagonal upwards angle is difficult to defend and at the same time it can reach vital points located along the centreline such as the throat and chin. This Muay Sakon counterattack was used in a similar way in sword fighting.

How

When the opponent attacks with a rear straight punch, lunge forward while slipping the punch to the outside. At the same time throw an upside down punch to the opponent’s throat connecting with your knuckles. Is Muay Sakon counter fighting at its best.
